Because of the revolution in Germany, they immigrated to Russia. In Russia their first son was born. Gustav was born January 1, 1896, in Volynia (Phonetic) Russia. From Russia the family immi— grated to Canada in 1896. Their first stop was Montreal. Franz was in need of work, so he left his wife and son in Montreal and followed the railroad to B.C. to find work. Shortly after he left Montreal in 1899, a daughter, Emily was born. Franz stayed for two years on the railroad. He then travelled back to Montreal to pick up his wife and children and trav— elled to Fort Ellice, Manitoba. Wilhelmina, Gustav and Emily stayed in Fort Ellice while Franz went to the Russell area looking for work. From the Russell area he bought a home— stead, S.W. 12-23—27 in 1901. A son, Joe was born in 1902. Another daughter, Natalie was born in 1904. After the birth of his last daughter, he moved the family to his homestead and started farming. In 1907 Adolph was born. He then sold his homestead to Bill Halwas and purchased the S.E. 14—23—27 from Jonas Field where he continued farming. In 1927 Adolph passed away and on November 4, 1936, at the age of 65, Franz passed away of pneumonia. Wilhelmina (nee Chernesky) Bomback — 1970. 89
