up samples from the farmers seed drill boxes, whereby they learned, on a province wide basis that many farmers were seeding a lot of bin run grain. i948 — Cardale Active Acorn Clothing Club was formed under the leadership of Mrs. Biarnson (Oak River's Doctor's wife) and Mrs. Hillis Dennison of Cardale. Here the girls, along with sewing and some ripping, learned public speaking, team demonstrations and club displays. The latter was a feature of all clubs and shown at rally day. Club displays and demonstrations went on to the Brandon Rally (Held the first day of Brandon Summer Fair) if they took top spot at their local Rally. Clothing and garden clubs went by Proiect Years. The age limit was at first 11 - 20 years then changed to 9 - 19 years. At the end of the year, the girls' work was shown to the public and ribbon awards given by the Home Economist. The Cardale W.|. gave a prize to the top girl in the club each year. Enrolment varied from three to twenty three in its 16 years of being. i954 — saw yet another 4-H Club formed under the supervision of Clarence Baily, Ag.-Rep. and leaders Mrs. Alex Ramsey and Mr. Glen Olmstead (a Cardale school teacher). These were "Busy Beavers" Garden Clubs. The Cardale W.|. gave a prize to the highest standing boy or girl each year and they received awards for the year's work by the Ag.-Rep. The club dissolved in 1962 and during that time many children learned the art of gardening as well as many other things they would use in later years. There were many avid gardeners in the district, who guided the children along in their achieve- ments. BLANSHARD DAIRY CLUB In 1955 Hamiota Ag-Rep., Clarence Baily called interested dairymen of Blanshard Municipality to a meeting in Oak River School and formed the First - Dairy Calf Club west of Winnipeg. It was called “Blanshard Dairy Calf Club" with the leaders being Clair Sparling, Herbert Stephens and Barrie Armstrong.
