The Booth Boys. L to R: Bob, Charlie, George. Strath 3. Peter (1870-1938) arrived in Austin in 1889. He married Henrietta Madill ** in 1901. They lived for a time in Austin and then moved to North Battleford, SK. in 1906. On Peter’s death Henrietta returned to MacGregor to live with her sisters Mary Madill and Caroline Booth. Peter and Henrietta are both buried at Austin. 4. William Sim came to Canada in 1890 and married Edith May Whitely in 1901. They farmed at Austin and Edith May taught school for a few years. In 1929 they moved to Winnipeg. William died in 1930 and Edith in 1953. They are both buried at the Brookside cemetery. Their children, Helen, Marjory and Morris all went to school at Austin. 5. Charles Henry (1882—1964) came to Canada with his brothers and sisters in 1890. He attended the Sight Hill school and married Violet Mildred Whitley. The family moved to Winnipeg in the early part of this century. Charles became President and Chairman of the Board of Building Products and Coal Limited in Winnipeg. Robert (Bob) Douglas (c.1885-1941) married Margaret McGregor ** (1886-1978). They farmed south of Austin and then Bob worked with his brother in the implement business in Austin. He and Margaret then took over an implement dealership in Treherne. After Bob’s death. Margaret moved to MacGregor. She and Bob are buried at Treherne. They had no children. . Helen (1877-1902). . Mary (1878-1905). Both Helen and Mary died of tuberculosis and are buried at Austin. 00% The Booth family established an "empire" in Austin with homesteading, real estate, machine businesses, grain buying etc. The business grew to include MacGregor and the entire municipality. Most of the family moved to other parts of Canada so that by the middle of this century only "Strath" remained to carry on the family name. BOROZNY Alexander (Alex) Borozny (1875-1960) was born in the Ukraine and came to Canada in 1898. Mary Sawitski (1885-1977) was also born in the Ukraine and came to Canada in 1907. She and Alex were married that same year. They took up farming in the Rosehill district and bought land from Albert Kilfoyle in 1916. Alex also bought a team of three year old colts for one hundred dollars from Joseph Irwin. This was 1916 and the interest rate was eight percent. Alex and Mary were active in community life and always took an interest in the MacGregor Fair - Alex with his horses and Mary with her baking, canning and vegetables. A spring fed creek ran through their farm and in dry years people would come from town to get water. Alex and Mary are buried at MacGregor. They had six children, all of whom went to school at Chipping Hill. 1. Steven (1908-1988) farmed in the Rosehill district. He sold the land to Roy Leckie and retired to Penticton. He is buried in Brandon. 2. Albin was born in 1910 and lived in Eastern Canada. 3. Katie worked in Regina and married Harry Perry. They live in Kelowna and have a son Melvin. Katie is the Borozny biographer. 4. Michael (Mike) became a commercial fisherman and lived in Vancouver. He had three daughters. 5. Matthew (1914-1986) did not marry. Matt served in the Canadian Army during WW II and on return took up farming in the Rosehill district. He retired to Brandon in 1966 and lived with his mother. Matt is buried in the MacGregor cemetery.
