and have two children, Robert and Krista.

. Barbara married Dennis Sigurdson **. They live

at MacGregor with children, Clinton and J odilyn.

. Tom lives at Edmonton.
. Leonard married Brenda Stephenson. They live in

Carberry and have two children, Aaron and
Jordan.

. Noreen married Clarke Munro. They live at

Portage with three children, Jared, Trevor and
Brady.

. Lorri married Harry Armishaw. They live at

Carman with three children, Ryan, Kylie and
Nicholas.

Joanne married Douglas Henderson. They live at
Portage with two sons Scott and Brent.

10 David married Linda Watson. They also live at

Murray and Jean (Ziegler) Burch, 1997

Portage and have one child Jamie.

BURCH
William Garner Burch (1893-1979), a son of
Launcelot and Jane Anne (McRae) Burch married
Hope Radclyffe **, in 1919. William is buried at
Portage. Hope passed away in 1997 and is also buried
in Portage. They had three children, Murray, Joyce
and Shirley.

. Murray William is undoubtedly the best known

Burch in North Norfolk. He went to school at
Elsmith and in 1947 married Margaret Jean
Ziegler, a teacher from Douglas, MB. Murray and
Jean have been involved in most aspects of
community life at Elsmith, Bagot and MacGregor.
They farm and with their family own and operate
Burch Seeds at Bagot.

Murray has been at various times President,
Chairman or Member of community committees
involving the Elsmith and Pine Creek School
Divisions, The MacGregor and District Golf Club,
the local Senior Citizens Drop in Centre, and The
United Church. He is involved with the
Agricultural Museum and numerous other
activities.

In recognition of his involvement and support
of his community, Murray was named
MacGregor’s Citizen of the Year in 1984. In 1986
he was elected a Robertson Associate of the
Canadian Seed Growers Association. The award
was made in Ottawa and is the highest award of
the association in recognition of service to the
association and his contribution to Canadian
agriculture. Tom Carrothers of Austin in another
member of this prestigious organization. Murray
has been a Pedigreed Seed Grower for forty-five
years.

Jean at the same time. was equally active in her
church and in her community. Jean relates many
interesting stories of life on the farm raising seven
boys and one girl all of whom went to school at
Bagot and MacGregor. It has been suggested that
Jean should write her own book.

Reginald William married Marion Benoit of
Prince Albert, SK in 1977. They live at
Saskatoon, SK and have a daughter Michelle
Pearl.
