BRODKORB Peter Paul Brodkorb (1892-1970) was born in Little Falls, Minnesota and came to Canada around 1915. He worked as a hired man in the Poplar Point area. In 1918 he settled in MacGregor. Paul is buried at MacGregor. Margaret was cremated and her ashes spread over the Campbell River. Paul and Margaret Rebecca Allers raised ten children; 1. Adeline, a daughter by Margaret’s first marriage to James Edward, married Hector MacDonald **. 2. Frances (1916-1989) married Clare Outhwaite. They had four children. 3. Raymond served during WW II. He married Ivy in England and they now live in Kamloops, BC. 4. Roy also served during WW II. He lives in Portage. 5. Frank married and had two children. Frank was killed accidentally during deer season in 1948. The family moved to British Columbia. 6. Joseph lived in MacGregor, Sidney and now lives in Brandon. 7. Jean married George Cady. They had eight children; Brian, Diane, Bill, Danny, David, Debbie, Leslie and Norma-Jean. Jean and George were divorced. Jean lives in Pritchard, BC. 8. Paul lives in Cranbrook, BC. 9. Mabel married Cecil LaFournie. They live in Brandon and have six children, Gordon, Bobby, Wayne, Patsy,Donna and Tommy. 10 Henry was married, lived in Saskatoon and is now deceased. BROW David (Dave) Brow (1908—1967) operated Dave’s Lunch in MacGregor in the 1950’s. He married Lena (Frank **) Buchanan. Lena had two children by a prior marriage, Garry Buchanan who married Faye Smith ** (they live at Pinawa) and Gloria Buchanan, who married Tom Isaacs (they live in Kamloops, BC and have three children). BROWN William (Billy) Henry Brown (c.1890-1958) married Elizabeth Stephenson ** (1884-1963) in 1909. William worked for the CPR for about ten years and then they farmed in the Arizona district. William and Elizabeth retired to and are buried at Carberry. They had three daughters; 1. Florence married E. Bennett. 2. Ida married Gilbert Bagnall **. 3. Irene married Percy Cody. Andrew Brown (1883-1951) a long time resident of the Beaver district is buried in the Beaver creek cemetery. 70 William Brown and his wife, Anne (1797-1895) are buried at Beaver beside the J .B. Young ** family. We assume they are the parents of Ellen Louisa (Brown) Young **. Samuel T. Brown came to MacGregor with his wife Ellen Mary (1875-1952) in 1922. Sam was the Section Foreman for the CPR in MacGregor for about ten years. He was then transferred to Glenboro. Sam and Ellen Mary had four children, Roy, Jean, Cory and Mark. Mark went to school in MacGregor and is particulary well remembered. Mark Henry ”Hilly" Brown (1912-1941) died while serving in the Royal Air Force during WW II. He is buried in the Catania War Cemetery in Italy. Wing Commander Brown was a Canadian War Ace (He is credited with destroying I8 enemy aircraft and was shot down over Sicily). His roots were in MacGregor and other southern Manitoba towns. He was the Commanding Ofi‘icer of the No. 1 Squadron RAF. during the Battle of Britain and the Battle of France. He was awarded the D.F. C. and Bar, C. G., M.M. and the M. C. He was awarded the French Croix de Guer're, the Czechoslovakian Military Medal and the Military Cross. Brown Rapids in Northern Manitoba is named in memory of Wing Commander Brown. The gymnasium in the MacGregor Collegiate is also named in his memory. A book "Wings of the Morning " written by Jean Sega], his sister, tells the full story of this famous WW II pilot, Clarence (Clare) Stanley Brown (1897-1989) was born at Hilton, Manitoba and in 1929 married Olive Acheson of Hartney, MB. Clare worked the Acheson farm at Currie and purchased it in 1941. They lived and worked in various parts of the province until 1939 when they settled on their farm at Currie. In 1944 they sold the farm and moved to Edwin where Clare worked for the Manitoba Pool Elevator Co. In 1947 they returned to MacGregor. Clare is buried in the MacGregor cemetery. Olive leads a reasonably active life in the MacGregor Care Home. She and Clare raised three children; 1. Joyce married Ole Johnson (now deceased). Joyce lives in Kamloops BC. She and Ole had a son, Earl. 2. Murray married Helen Burley. They live in Winnipeg with two children, Marlene and Donald. 3. Louise married Edward Bovet. They live in North Vancouver. William Brown (c.1865-1946) and his wife Marion emigrated to Canada from Scotland in 1890.
