moved to 242-9 at Bagot in 1943 and to Portage

in 1946. He worked as a carpenter and helped

build Paulson Airport at Ochre River during WW

II. He joined the Veterans Guard in 1940 and

spent some time guarding Prisoners of War at

Espanola, Ontario. Nellie died June 14, 1972 and

Bert died on September 12, 1974. They are both

buried at Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Portage.

Bert and Nellie had five children;

Harold Edwin Wright was born at Lavenham on November 2, 1923 and attended the Clairmont School. He lit the wood fire to warm the school for a number of years. In 1943 Harold moved with his parents to the farm at Bagot and later to Portage. On June 30, 1951 he married Muriel Viola Blair of the Portage district.

He farmed and worked as a mechanic and in 1956 moved his family to their present home on the farm at Bagot (35-11-9).

In addition to farming and raising a family Harold has considerable skill as an old time fiddler. He began playing the fiddle when in his teens and after moving to Bagot played at card parties at the Bagot hall. His first dance band engagement was a wedding dance for Faye Burton in 1961. At that time Harold played a right handed violin "left handed" but a few years later he had his violin changed to be left handed and has played it that way ever since. He and Muriel retired from farming in 1990 although they still live in their farm home at Bagot. Harold, at the time this book is being printed, is still playing for dances. He and Muriel have three children;

Kenneth (Ken) William born January 6, 1953 and lives at Tsawwassen, British Columbia.

Ken graduated from the University of

Manitoba with a computer science degree,

joined the R.C.M.P and served with the

force for ten years. He then worked for

B.C. Hydro in computer security for four

years and now has his own business in

computer security. Ken married Vicki

Bebbington April 17, 1976 and they had

two children, Brandon Edwin and Julia

Victoria. Following a divorce Ken married

Ruth (Betty) Elizabeth Glover on November

10, 1990. Betty has three children, Tracy

Shannon, Jeffrey Shawn and Rachel


Cheryl Arlene was born March 18, 1955 and

married Thomas Andre Hewitt on June 30,

1978. Cheryl graduated with her R.N. from

the Winnipeg General Hospital, her B.N.

from McGill University in Montreal and her

MD. from McMaster University in

Hamilton. She currently practices family


medicine in Mississauga, ON where she, Tom and two sons, Stephen Thomas and Michael David live.

Garry Edward was born July 23, 1958, graduated with his diploma in Agriculture from the University of Manitoba and farmed with his father until 1990. Garry married Vicki Lynn Lamb **, on November 23. 1979. Garry recently passed his C.M.A. Entrance Examination. He is employed as Project Manager with Frontec Corporation at the Southport Aerospace Centre in Portage. Vicki works as an L.P.N. at the Portage General Hospital and at the Portage Clinic. She and Garry have two daughters Lindsey Blair and Hailey Alexandra.

Anne Jean was born June 2, 1925 at Lavenham,

attended the Clairmont school and served in the C.W.A.C during WW II. She married John Dycer on September 30, 1944. They were divorced. Anne later married James Logan. They lived and had a family of five children in Hamilton, Ontario; Janeen Eleanor (Wilson), Gavin Glenn Ross (1950-1951), Carolanne Craig (James), Marylou Nell (McIntyre) and James Bruce.

Glendon (Glenn) James was born at home at

Lavenham on December 6, 1928. He attended Clairmont school and moved to Bagot and later Portage with his parents. He married Vera Mae Johnston on June 29, 1955. Glenn drove a milk truck for a number of years and then became a U.G.G elevator operator, later becoming a District Manager. Vera died August 21, 1993 and is buried in Evergreen Memorial Gardens, Portage. Glenn lives at Rivers, MB. He and Vera had two children; James (Jamie) Glendon married Darlene Lynne Peden in 1978. They live in Portage. John Edward Ernest married Beth Marguerite Thomson in 1987. They live in Plum Coulee.

Ernest Lorne was born at home at Lavenham on

October 16, I932, attended Clairmont school, moved with his family to Bagot and attended the Elsmith school. He also studied at Portage Collegiate. Lorne worked on construction with his brother Harold until April 16, 1960 when he married Onalee Evelyn Kelly **. For some years he hauled bulk milk from Bagot to Crescent Creamery at Portage. He ultimately took over the George and Margaret Kelly dairy farm at Bagot and he and Onalee raised three sons. all graduates of the MacGregor Collegiate; Brian Nelson married Comic Lynn Morris **, on September 22, 1984. They have two children, Candace Raylene and Chad
