Kenneth attended school. Alf. Noton rented the farm, for a year or so too. Mr. and Mrs. Johnson and their family Norman, Warren, Charles, Lizzie, Irene and Mabel took up residence here and members of the Johnson family.1ived here till 1962. After Mr. Johnson’s death, sons Warren (Buster) and Norman (Slim) carried on. Mr. and Mrs. Art Wheeler (Lizzie) and family — Arnott, Elliott, Muriel, Russell. Harold and Cecil, lived with her parents here from 1926 till 1959' when Mrs. Johnson died and Mr. and Mrs. Wheeler moved to Brandon. Bob McCallum (son of John McCallum) bought the farm in 1962 but no one lives here now as Bob farms from the home farm. The house has been dismantled. The NW quarter was a part of the Johnson farm and the SW quar- ter was bought by R. J. McCallum from Joe Kilmury in 1926 when he purchased 1324221. 20 : 4 : 20 The West half of this section is the Boyd farm, being settled about 1885. It has always been in Boyd hands. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Blacklock rented the farm from 1910 to 1935 and many people in fact still refer to this as the “Blacklock” farm. Mr. and Mrs. Blacklock had two child- ren — Clara and Joe. In 1935 Mr. John Taylor and his bride, Laura Henderson and her parents moved on the farm. Mr. and Mrs. Hender- son retired to Boissevain in 1940. John and Laura and sons Ralph and Gordon lived here till 1947 when they moved to the Baird farm. Lorne Halladay now rents this half section and the buildings are vacant. rlThe'East half of 20:4:20 belonged to Mr. and Mrs. R. J. Wilson. Mr. Boyd says, “He sold it to a Mr. Burke — He moved to Elgin where he startedxa Lumber yard — this was in 1899. Later he sold his yard and he and Mrs. Wilson moved to Winnipeg where they lived until they passed away”. It is reported that the Wilson farm was the site of the first picnic in the district — later the picnics were held north of the Village of C‘rOll and also in Charlie Johnson’s pasture. Following the Burkes was a man by the name of Poecock from England. He stayed only one year — 1899. Holbrookes rented this farm for a year or two but it is commonly known as the “Dunn” farm. Dunns bought it in the early 1900’s, and a Mr. Fred Rockie rented it for three years. In 1909 Taits bought it and were owners till 1933 when they lost it to Dunns. Mains rented from ’34 to ’36. Bob Keowns were the next renters from5’37 to ’43 when they left to farm. at Fairfax. Taits and Taylors combined to put in the crop in ’43 and ’44. In 1945 W. G. Dickson bought it from Dunns and in 1946 he sold it to Barry Dickson. There are no buildings left on this half section now. 29 : 4 : 20 Section 29 was a School Section and Ben and John Johnson were first owners, buying it as raw prairie in 1903. They broke it and worked it from their farm SW of Boissevain. From 1909 - 1912 Mr. and Mrs. Hickman and their family —— Tom, Sam, and Kathy rented and lived here.
