D. A. McKAY D. A. McKay came to Crystal City in August of 1923 as a co-partner in the Crystal City branch of Parsons store of Pilot Mound. “D. A.” as he was generally known, was from a long line of merchants. His grandfa— ther, Thosv. McKay, was the first ge- neral merchant in the Pilot Mound district. His father, Donald, carried 1.74 on in the business until fire destroy- ed the store in 1912. The Parsons store was in the Citizens Hotel block. A Mr. Burgoyne had previously had a store there.
