Olive married Craig Maxwell, they have two daughters, Tara and Andrea; Ann married Grant Milljour. submitted by Edith Brown The John Kernaghan Family Mr. and Mrs. John Kemaghan came to Canada in 1883 along with their famly of three sons and three daughters, namely; Jennie, William, Sam, Sarah, Robert and Margaret, settling on a farm North East of Cartwright Section 14—2-14. The sons took land near by and farmed for a number of years. Jennie, the eldest married Jethro Harris who came from Cornwall, England, in 1879, and farmed in the Rock Lake district, (see history elsewhere in book) William, married Ida Coey from Russell, Man- itoba and farmed in the Rock Lake district. They raised a family of five daughters, three of whom attended the Rock Lake school, Rose, Margaret and Isabel. Sarah married Jim Yuill of the Rock Lake dis— trict and had a family of three sons, Robert, John and Sam. Sam married and had a family of seven sons and two daughters. Robert married Ruby Beach of Cartwright and had a family of two sons and two daughters. Margaret remained with her parents and later moved to Cartwright when they retired from the farm. Kester Family History George and Martha Kester came to Mather in November of 1930, when George assumed the office of CPR. station agent. Their only daughter, Anne, who at that time was attending Business College in Brandon, came to Mather in early 1931. The family enjoyed almost nine years “at home” in Mather and made many dear friends. They were always interested in the affairs and well-being of the community. In October 1939, they moved to Winnipeg, where Anne had already obtained employment. George retired from the CPR. depot in February 1948. In August Anne married Abe Edwards of Win— nipeg. Her bridesmaid was Eileen McKenzie, a spe- cial friend of Mather days. George passed away in September 1966 at Grace Hospital, Winnipeg. Martha entered the Oakview Place Personal Care Home in July 1973. In March 1980, she went to be with her Lord at the age of ninety—four years. 184 Mr. and Mrs. Kester and daughter Anne. Abe and Anne are thankful to God for His love and although they miss “Dad and Mother”, they can say they sorrow not as those who have no hope. Kilpatrick History W. G. (Bob) and Doreen Kilpatrick and daughter Susan (twelve months), arrived in Mather, August 18th, 1950. Bob, as C.P.R. Agent, found he was on strike the next day. Beverley Jean was born in September in Souris. Barbara Margaret arrived in December 1952. Bob won a doll at the Christmas concert the next day. “Bob has another girl,” said a member of the au- dience. Carol Lindabon arrived in May 1954. Kilpatricks were moved to Churchbrige, Sask. immediately fol— lowing. Bob and Doreen were active in all organizations in the community. They now reside in Regina but enjoy coming “home” to Mather. Klassen History After our house burned down at Crystal City in September 1940, we moved to several different places. In the fall of 1941, we moved to the Howard District, the present home of Gordon Mullin. That was where Tena, Henry and Susan started school. This house was so cold that if you took a dipper of water upstairs to bed, you had to finish it by midnight or it would be frozen solid by morning. This all happened in the war years and Mom took part in quilting quilts for the men overseas. In those days neighbors worked together when it came to haying or harvesting.
