Bob and Edna (nee Thompson) worked hard farming and milking cows, enjoyed family life, and curling in Basswood, Rapid City and Cardale bonspiels. Once all their children had grown, they enjoyed trips together to RC, Ontario, and the Maritimes. Although they appreciated seeing the sights, their trips almost always involved visiting friends and relatives who had grown up in the Cadurcis area -- people like Bob's first cousins, the Crobar sisters (Robena, Jean, and Bernice), for example, who always considered Cadurcis 'home' although they lived away for many years.
Bob passed away October 12, 1995 (aged 75 years) and his humour, gentle patience, and genuine enjoyment of people, especially children, is sadly missed by all the family.
Edna continues to live on 26-14-20, providing a warm and welcoming "home" to all her children and her 10 grandchildren who all know the best buns, pies and dainties —not to mention some favorite casseroles -- still come from grandma's house! The grandchildren all enjoy her wit and wisdom, and she, in turn, takes an active and perceptive interest in their schooling, jobs, and many travels. Edna keeps busy in winter, trying out new knitting patterns which all the family benefits from, and she employs that same lifelong learner strategy in the kitchen, testing new recipes, and keeping current with all the new healthy cooking trends.
In summer, she enjoys her garden, growing beautiful sweet peas, and other flowers and vegetables, many of which she still starts herself indoors, from seed. The fi'uit trees and raspberry bushes she and Bob planted years ago produce bountiful crops and her prudent and generous nature is kept busy giving away the abundance so it won't be wasted!
Edna maintains an active interest in all the extended family, nieces, nephews, and cousins, as well as in community affairs. She belongs to Cadurcis Church and Cadurcis Community Club, the Rapid City seniors group and library, and the Minnedosa Horticulture Society. She enjoys attending area concerts and the many visits fi'om family and fi'iends.
Bob and Edna had four children: Loreen (see Glen Jackson family), Anne, Joan and Rob.
