of the Cardale United Church Board, a member and later secretary- treasurer of the School Board. He was for many years the secretary treasurer of the Cardale Curling Club and was one of the original members of the Canadian Order of Foresters.
In 1960 the family moved to Hamiota. George undertook a big job when he decided to dismantle the large farm house and rebuild it in Hamiota. With the aid of Mr. Ralph Espey and one other man the lumber was all piled and every nail pulled within three weeks’ time. The barn which was fairly new was sold to Roy Espey. So all that was left on the farm were some bins and a shed. In 1965 the land was sold to John Radcliffe and Sons of Cardale.
George passed away in March of 1966. His widow remains in Hamiota where she is on the staff of the Hamiota Elementary School. Their son, David, attended Brandon University for three years and is at present teaching with Indian Affairs at Peguis, Manitoba. Pa- tricia and Margaret are both attending Hamiota Collegiate.

Iim Reid was born at Dyce, Aberdeenshire, Scotland in 1907, in a family of seven boys and two girls. He was educated at Dyce public school and Robert Gordon’s College in Aberdeen. At the age of sixteen be commenced his apprenticeship as a farrier blacksmith. He worked in a shipyard until he came to Canada in 1929. He lived first in Transcona where he was employed in the ONE. shops.
He left his blacksmith work in 1930 to seek employment as a farm laborer to get acquainted with Canadian farm machinery. He was employed by I. Radcliffe of Moline, E. Longstaff and R. Hotham. A shop was opened on the E. Soldan farm in 1936.
In 1937 Jim married Ann Bellman, second daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. ]acob Bollman. He built a house and blacksmith shop in the town of Moline where he carried on his business until 1944 when he moved with his family to Cardale. There he worked and lived in the McIntosh garage until 1959 when he built a house at the west end of the town. In 1967 he built another shop near the house where he still carries on his blacksmith’s trade as well as growing garden plants for sale in his greenhouse.
Two children were born to this marriage, Leslie and Margaret. Both are now living in Saskatchewan. Leslie married Margaret Mis- ener of Virden in 1963 and now works as a trucker and lives in Martinsville, Saskatchewan. They have two children, Jimmy and Ann. Margaret married Don Bull of Strathclair in 1963. They have two children, Wesley and Judy, and live at Vanscoy, 5351(-
