Gertie lived on the homestead until he retired and they moved to Swan River in 1953. In 1972, they moved to the Bowsman Manor. Hill passed away in March 1976. Gertie continued to live in the Bowsman Manor. In 1984, Gertie, aged 90 and her daughter June, went on a three week trip to Iceland. Gertie went into the Personal Care Home in 1992, and resided there until her death in March 6, 1995 at the age of 10 1 years.
Walker farmed in the Craigsford district until his death in 1952. His wife, Agnes, and two children, Glynn and Jean stayed on the farm until 1974, when they moved into Bowsman. Agnes passed away in 1979. Glynn and Jean are still in Bowsman.
Adelaide married Clifford Robinson and they had four children. David is married and lives inthe Sinclair River District Alex is married and is inNobleford, AB. Gordon was killed in an industrial accident in 1970. His widow and children are living in Ellensburg, Washington Beverly is married and lives in Crystal City, MB. Addie was wid- owed in 1949. She lived on the outskirts of Swan River until 1972 when she moved to Crystal City, MB. She passed away in 1990.
Edgar, farmed in the summer and worked in the bush in winter, then found employment with the C.N.R. He lived and worked in Saskatchewan and Port Arthur, On- tario. He was married to Kitty, and they had one daugh- ter, Pat. They are all now deceased.
Max farmed in the Bowsman district until he enlisted in the Queen’s Own Cameron Highlanders during World War II. He married in England, but his wife did not live to come home with him. Afier returning from the war, he farmed for a while, then worked in Thompson, MB until he retired. Upon retirement, he moved back to Swan River and lived with his sister, Addie until he passed away in May 1970.
Wesley married a local girl Dora Cook. Their daugh- ter Mary Lou was born in Bowsman. Then they moved to Flin Flon, where Wes worked for HBM&S until his retirement. Carol and John were born in Flin Flon. Wes and Dora retired to Vancouver. Wes passed away in 1972. Dora is still in Vancouver.
Clifl' farmed in the Bowsman area until he joined the Queen’ 5 Own Cameron Highlanders during the war. He spent two years in a German POW camp. He returned to Canada and in 1948 married his Scottish war bride, Muriel. They farmed in the Sinclair River district until ill health forced a move to Swan River in 1955, where he lived until he passed away in 1980. Muriel is still living in Swan River. Their son, Allan, is married and living in Dauphin. Their daughter, Joyce is married and living in Swan River.

Pearl also joined the army during the war. When she was discharged, she moved to Vancouver, BC. She mar. ried Bob Adams in 1961. He passed away in 1967 and she passed away in 1978.

Walter and Mary Dushanek
Walter and Mary (nee Slepicka) immigrated from Po- land with two young children in 1937. Two years later, Mary’s parents Anthony and Anna Slepicka came to Canada with their other children Walter, Millie, and Sylvia and also settled in the Minitonas area. Mary and Walter had two more children here. They labored on their mixed farm in the Ravensworth district raising their four chil- dren Olga, Joseph, Jerry, and Ester. A carpenter by trade, Walter sometimes worked away from home to supplement the family farm income. Mary was a talented woman and a creative seamstress. They helped estab- lish the Czech Baptist Church and were faithful lifetime members. They remained on the farm from 1937 until 1972 when retiring to Minitonas. They celebrated sixty- seven years of marriage in December of 1996. Upon their passing in 1997, Walter in April, and Mary in Sep- tember, they left a devoted family, fourteen grandchil- dren, and twenty-three great grandchildren.
Jerry Dushanek was born to Walter and Mary Dushanek on November 27, 1 940, the third of four chil- dren. He took his schooling at Ravensworth. He farmed with his father and worked in the bush in winter months. He was employed by INCO in Thompson over a three- year period. He also worked at various carpentry jobs but preferred to farm. He married Lorraine Gold on October 4, 1962 in Swan River. She was employed as an aide in Swan Valley Hospital and Swan River Valley Personal Care Home for many years. They presently reside on their mixed farm on SE 24-35-26 south of Minitonas, This had been Jerry’s grandfather Slepicka’s home quarter many years earlier. In 1994, they started an Elk ranch. Jerry and Lorraine raised two sons; Marty born in 1963, and Chris in 1967. They received their education in Minitonas and Swan River. The boys en- joyed several sports, especially hockey. Eventually they moved to Alberta to work, where they have both been successful in the Oil Industry. Marty married Darlene Jones from Delbume, AB in 1986. She worked as a medical secretary. They had two daughters, Mandi born February 5, 1991 and Casey born April 3, 1993. They reside in Red Deer, AB. Chris is currently living “3 Blackfalds, AB and is engaged to be married to Pam Bresky.
