Land prices in Manitoba varied from $3 to $12 and up an acre for unimproved land. The price depended largely on location with respect to railways, towns, timber and water resources. Below are the various costs associ- ated with starting a farm in Western Canada, circa 1910.

Breaking - Three inches deep, $3 .00 per acre. Harrowing - Each operation, $0.35 per acre. Disking - Three times, $1.50 per acre.

Seeding - $0.60 per acre, not including seed. Fencing - Three wires, $100.00 to $125.00 per mile. Boring Wells - Using steel casing, $2.25 to $3 a foot.

Farm Labour - Harvest and threshing wages ranged from $1.75 to $2.50 a day or $35 to $45 a month.
