DOGTOWN TO DAUPHIN Dr. Adam S. Little Dr. Adam Little was born in 1919 in Dauphin, where he grew up in a family of ten, attending Dauphin’s public schools and Col- legiate Institute. His father, Thomas Little (1885-1959) emigrated from Scot- land in 1906. He came to Dauphin when the Northern Judicial Dis- trict was opened in 1917. He studied law at home, was admitted to the Manitoba Bar and appointed Police Magistrate in 1934.1n 1927 he founded Little’s Business College. His mother, Eliza Little, emigrated from Belfast in 1905. She raised her family in Dauphin and developed her ulcer after her chil- dren left home. Adam Little graduated in medicine from the University of Manitoba in 1942 and returned to Dauphin to establish a family practice in 1951. In 1953 he took post graduate studies at the New York-Bellevue Medical Centre. On his return he had a consulting practice, internal medicine, in Alberta until his retirement in 1974. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada, and a Fellow of the American College of Physicians. He is a past president of the American Academy of Medicine and was Osler Orator, Vancouver Medical Society, 1982.
