Title: | Newsclipping - "Historical buildings" |
Collections: | Winnipeg Tribune fonds Landmarks, Monuments & Built Heritage of the West |
Description: | A "Letter to the Editor" of the Tribune, sent in by Barbara J. Taylor and published 4 March 1975. The author notes that the Junior League of Winnipeg presented a brief to the Environmental Committee of City Council asking for a positive policy to list and rate all the heritage buildings in Winnipeg; a demolition control by-law; and provision of incentives to encourage private owners to restore and maintain historical properties. Taylor writes that three years previous, the federal government supposedly carried out a listing and rating of heritage buildings and she suggests that this information should be found and sent to the various historical societies to avoid duplicating those previous efforts. |
