at Ontario. They have two sons and one daughter; Don- ald in Kenora and Paul and Suzanne in Winnipeg. They also have four grandchildren. Marguerite and David Woodhury live in Fort Frances, Ontario. Their children are Elizabeth, Wayne, Debra and Alice and two grandchildren. Thresia married Ralph Wellard and they lived in St. Catharines. They had three sons, Ernest, Charles, and Gregory and eleven grand- children. Ralph passed away in 1981. Litton and his wife Joy are in New Zealand. They have four daugh- ters, Sharon, Laren, Lorelei and Gina. Patrick and his wife Leise of Vancouver have one son Fanoa. Melvin and his wife Patricia, with children Glenn and Kimberley live in Victoria, British Columbia. DR. AND MRS. IVAN BEREZNAY In November, 1963, a new family came to Fisher Branch occupying the house, usually kept for the doctor, which had not been occupied for the past three months. Dr. Ivan and Mrs. (Rozalia) Bereznay and their children, 1971. Dr. Ivan Bereznay and his wife Rozalia, both Hungarian born, had two children at the time — Brigitte and Oliver. They both had some difficulties starting life in a 81 new country, and to compound matters, neither of them had lived in a small town before. But starting is always difficult, so, they got used to the weather, the customs, and soon they found themselves enjoying their hobbies: hunting, fishing, but most seriously, flying. On many occasions Dr. Bereznay was called upon by the RCMP. to aid in the search for a lost hunter. Luckily, there was an empty lot facing the hospi— tal; so, they built an office and laboratory. Three years later, because of their rapidly growing family, they built a new home behind the office. Cecilia was born in 1965, and Franciska in 1966. Their second son, Anthony, who followed a year later, was an- nounced to the town by a long blue ribbon towed behind their plane, Victoria finished the line in 1969. Two years later, in 197i, Dr. Ivan Bereznay lost his life in a tragic hunting accident. He is resting in the Fisher Branch Roman Catholic Cemetery. Rozalia moved to Winnipeg the following spring with their six children. JOSEPH BERNIER written by Della Bernier Mr. Joseph Bemier was born on February 14, 1896 and raised in St. Jean Baptiste. As a young man he fanned for his father, Francois. He was a born mechanic and with farm machinery he was an expert. In 1913, the Case Co. Farm Machinery Representa- tives, from Winnipeg made several trips to St. Jean Baptiste to convince Mr. and Mrs. Francois Bemier to let Joseph, then seventeen years old, go with them to Racine, Wisconsin as a farm machinery expert, but every time their answer was negative. 011 February 10, 1920 Joseph married Corinne Gregoire and continued farming for his dad until the L. to FL: Alma, Mrs. Bemier, Mr. Bernier, and Simonne,1947.
