It was the practice of certain unscrupulous
individuals to start commission businesses and to send out
aircular letters, on imposing letter-heads, to the farmers
asking to banale their grain, promising in 1-et1u'n big
pxhloes and good service. Through this advertising method
and the assuz‘-ance of high prices quantities of farm

products were shipped to these men. Once in possession
of these products they would sell them and delay payment
to the farmer, in fact they wouldpcarry on until: they

reachea a point where there were ényeaiing ’
them than they would abscond. and invariably could. not be

round and the farmers were left victims of this dishonest

practice .
