Libraries: Newspapers
The University of Manitoba Libraries has digitized several Manitoban newspapers and funded the digitization of the Winnipeg Tribune, the Manitoban, and Czas (The Times). These digitized newspapers document every facet of life in Manitoba throughout its history, providing an invaluable resource for historical research.
Manitobia
The Manitobia Project is a natural extension of the mandate of the Manitoba Library Consortium (MLCI), an organization dedicated to providing Manitobans and other Canadians with extensive and more equitable access to the library and information resources of the province. The project was funded by Canadian Culture Online. The digitization of the Winnipeg Tribune was funded by the University of Manitoba Libraries. The digitization of newspapers published during the Second World War was funded by the Council of Post Secondary Education. Digitization of these significant resources will enable the Consortium to overcome the geographical barriers within the province, making unique resources available throughout Manitoba and beyond.
Office of the University Secretary
The University Secretary is responsible for coordinating and facilitating the activities of the Board of Governors and of the Senate, and their various committees, to ensure the effective and efficient operation of the University's bicameral system of governance. They work closely with the Chair of the Board, the Chair of Senate, the President, senior administration, and committee chairs to provide advice and guidance on jurisdiction, strategy, policy, and process. The Secretary advises students, faculty/school representatives, senior administrators, the Director of Student Advocacy, and legal counsel on matters relating to the Senate Appeals Committee and the University Discipline Committee, and prepares reports arising from appeals and disciplinary matters. This collection includes agendas and minutes from meetings of the Board of Governors as well as minutes from Senate meetings.
